Abstract: |
The paper investigates the current state and market structure of the international hospitality industry, analysing its key trends, challenges, and development dynamics. The study identifies that the global hospitality sector demonstrates stable growth driven by digitalisation, innovative technologies, sustainability orientation, and service personalisation. Regional peculiarities of market functioning and competitiveness factors are outlined in the context of contemporary challenges such as rising operating costs, labour shortages, and geopolitical instability. Based on analytical data from Research and Markets, WTTC, and other recent academic sources, the paper formulates strategic recommendations for sustainable development of the international hospitality market. The aim of this study is to analyse the current state and market conditions of the global hospitality industry, identify major trends and development prospects, and determine key challenges influencing the efficiency and competitiveness of the sector worldwide. The research applies general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction to generalise trends in the hospitality market development. Empirical and statistical methods are used to assess market dynamics and structure, relying on analytical reports from Research and Markets, WTTC, and Hospitality Insights. The method of abstraction is applied to formulate generalised conclusions and recommendations for industry advancement. The conducted analysis shows that the global hospitality industry has demonstrated dynamic growth in recent years. The Asia-Pacific region holds the largest market share (approximately 38%), serving as the main “growth hub” due to rising household incomes and expanding domestic tourism. Leisure travel accounts for over 59% of total demand, indicating a post-pandemic recovery of global tourism flows. The key trends shaping market development include digitalisation, the introduction of innovative technologies, automation of operational processes, and a strong focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility. Major market challenges involve rising operational costs (energy, labour, logistics), a shortage of skilled workforce, and competition from online short-term rental platforms such as Airbnb and Vrbo. Additionally, geopolitical risks, currency fluctuations, and regional economic instability significantly influence market performance. The study confirms that future growth opportunities for the international hospitality industry are closely linked to ESG-based management models, partnership-driven strategies, active digital transformation of business processes, and deep product localisation adapted to the cultural and social characteristics of individual countries. Companies that successfully combine innovation, sustainability, and adaptability are most likely to achieve long-term growth and strengthen their global competitiveness. |
